5307th Composite Unit (Prov.)
This is a tribute to the men of the 5307th
Composite Unit (Provisional), popularly
known as the Merrill's Marauders:
America's first official ground force to engage
in combat on Asian soil during World War II.
As an associate member of the Merrill's
Marauders Association and the auxiliary
Proud Descendants, I am particularly
honored to present their history and legacy
on the Night Gang website.
Night Gang maintains its Mission in
presenting in-depth and an unprecedented
accounting in the background and history of
the Marauders, supported by historical

— 8/31/07 - 9/2/07: Merrill's Marauders Association 61st Annual Reunion
St. Louis, Missouri
S/Sgt Bob Bursian's daughter Mary Dame,
with S/Sgt Roy Hiroshi Matsumoto, the 'Hero
of Walawbum and Nphum Ga' during the 60th
Annual Marauders Reunion in Fort Mitchell,
Kentucky (September 2006). S/Sgt
Matsumoto, a Japanese Nisei interpreter with
the Blue Combat Team of 2nd Battalion was
awarded the Legion of Merit and the Bronze
Star for his acts of heroism and bravery in
combat. He was also inducted in the Ranger
Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, Georgia.
